Scott Jolly, Assistant Headmaster for External Affairs

For more than a century, St. Mark’s has thrived thanks to the unparalleled support of our special community. While the 2020–2021 school year was less tumultuous than 2019-2020, we were still called on to navigate unprecedented uncertainty. Our boys, teachers, staff, and community thrived and lived out the values of Courage & Honor that we hold dear. The generosity of so many members of the St. Mark’s family contributed to the overwhelming success and excellence of the past year.

Reputable institutions across the country began the 2020 school year virtually. The courageous leadership, faith, and generosity of scores of volunteers and supporters enabled St. Mark’s to provide our Marksman with in-person learning on campus. The rewards of being physically together in community outweighed any of the significant expenses and logistical obstacles. Our faculty provided a world-class educational experience to our boys amidst pandemic restraints and the Class of 2021 left an indelible mark on school history. We emerge from 2020-2021 stronger than ever and ambitiously looking towards a bright future.

While there are many people in our community deserving of thanks, in particular, I am deeply grateful for the leadership and support of the Development Committee, and the partnership provided by Chair Alan Schoellkopf ‘91. In addition, I would like to thank and recognize St. Mark’s Fund Chairs Whitney Strauss, Jamie Helwig ’01, and David Estes ’89, as well as the army of Alumni and Parent Class Agents and volunteers for their devotion and commitment.

It is with pleasure that we present the digital version of the 2020-2021 Annual Report. Our goal is to provide you with a comprehensive and interactive assessment of the activities and achievements of the past fiscal year.

Again, thank you for your tremendous support of St. Mark’s. Your gifts have a profound impact on the everyday life of our School.
